"Woman, Life, Freedom" Film Festival

The Third International “Woman, Life, Freedom” FilmFestival

The Association of Iranian Film and Theatre Artists Abroad(AIFTAA) will hold the third edition of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” FilmFestival from September 16 to September 21, 2026.

The festival will open in Brisbane, Australia,with screenings of the selected films and a live online broadcast of theopening ceremony. It will then continue over the following six days in Chicago,Cologne, Brussels, Oldenburg, Uppsala, and London, featuring screenings ofthe official selections. The festival will conclude with special closingceremonies held in Stockholm and Toronto.

The festival’s international jury is composed of womenartists who have been banned from working in Iran, internationally acclaimedfilmmakers, and an artist representing the LGBTQ+ community.

The festival aims to showcase creative works that highlightthe struggles and achievements of women, promote freedom of expression, supportgender, ethnic, and religious equality, and emphasize the importance of freedomby condemning censorship.

Inspired by the Iranian women’s movement against inequality,the Association of Iranian Film and Theatre Artists Abroad (AIFTAA) organizesthis international independent film festival to amplify the voices of women’sstruggles for equality beyond national borders and bring them to a globalaudience.
