The LFCO March concert presents Jean Sibelius’s tone poem En Saga, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8, and Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2 with student soloist Julian Kolthammer.
The LFCO opens our March concert with Jean Sibelius’s tone poem En Saga. While he provides no specific program information, Sibelius called this piece, “an expression of a state of mind,” and “psychologically one of my most profound works.” Regardless of the story, the dramatic moods and scenes in this short tone poem compliment Dvorak’s pastoral, often joyful Symphony No. 8.
Julian Kolthammer, from Highland Park High School joins us for Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2.
