Deerfield Theater

Deerfield Family Theater (DFT) and Theater D offer distinct theatrical experiences within the Deerfield community. DFT, established in 2000 by the Deerfield Park District with the dedication of Susan Redondo, evolved from the Children’s Theater of Deerfield, Inc., providing family-oriented productions that blend professional theater standards with a welcoming, neighborhood feel. DFT’s mission is to deliver high-quality theater experiences for all, featuring children prominently in their casts and mentoring young actors through professional guidance. Supported by grants, ticket sales, and community contributions, DFT is governed by a dedicated board.

In 2005, Theater D emerged as an extension of DFT, founded by a group of friends seeking more adult-focused theatrical opportunities. Recognizing DFT’s focus on family entertainment, Theater D was created to provide challenging performance opportunities for adults and enjoyable dramatic and comic theatrical entertainment for the North Shore, bringing professional-quality theater to Deerfield’s backyard. Donna Price, a founder and longtime producer, is honored through Theater D’s commitment to quality performances. Both organizations are dedicated to enriching Deerfield’s cultural landscape, with DFT focusing on family and youth, and Theater D catering to adult audiences.

Deerfield Theater now is one organization, and produces 3-main stage theater productions every year.  One production is geared for adults, our summer production focuses on Theater For Young Audiences, and our big family friendly musical in the fall!
