Citadel Theatre

One of the founding members of ArtsLink North is Citadel Theater.  Founded in 2002, Citadel Theater is located at 300 Waukegan Road in Lake Forest,  (in the Lake Forest Schools Administration Building, formerly Lake Forest High School West Campus).

Citadel Theater presents live theater productions, offering a diverse range of shows.  Its professional actors, directors and producers  create extraordinary dramas, comedies, cutting-edge new works, contemporary and classical shows. Citadel Theater’s seating provides excellent views for the entire audience.  Ticket prices range from $10 – $45.

Citadel also conducts youth classes, taught by professional actors and educators.  Classes are held throughout the year with wonderful summer youth classes.  These classes teach advanced acting skills, which also enhance the students’ everyday life skills, self-confidence, public speaking and problem-solving skills, emphasizing growth and education.  Financial assistance is available for qualified students.  Tuition for classes depends on class length.

Citadel Theater hosts numerous family-friendly events and activities, including summer outdoor theater for young audiences, holiday shows and special events.

Citadel’s current production is I and You. Rich with poetic theatricality intertwined with simple human truth, the play finds high school students Caroline and Anthony suddenly forced together when Anthony shows up Caroline’s home unexpectedly, apparently to work on an English project that, to Caroline’s surprise, is due the next day. What begins as an awkward and unwelcome intrusion evolves into a night of unexpected closeness and self-discovery as they grapple with the assignment, their own insecurities, and the unspoken feelings that simmer beneath the surface.
